Fried Green Tomatoes
This time, I used Fresh Chile Dijon Mustard and Fresh Chile Hatchup in the dipping sauce and Fresh Chile Seasonings for the tomatoes
The tomatoes are out of my beautiful backyard garden. Love it!!
How I make Fried Green Tomatoes:
1/2 cup mayonnaise; 1/2 cup Fresh Chile Hatchup
2 tsp Fresh Chile Hot Dijon Mustard; 1 1/2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice; 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper; 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce; and black pepper (dash here and there).
Mix all ingredients well, and refrigerate. Enjoy.
Pick several tomatoes from your garden when they’re green.
Slice tomatoes in ‘not-so-thin-thick-slices. Do not use the ends (discard).
Mix 1/2 cup milk and 2 (or 3 eggs) together. Blend well. Set aside
Next, mix 1/2 cup breadcrumb mix; 1/2 cup yellow corn meal; 1 Tbsp Fresh Chile Seasoning; black pepper to your liking. Mix well. Place on a plate. Set aside.
Also, place 1 1/2 cup of flour on a separate plate.
Heat up oil for frying. I use canola oil. I’ve never made this using vegetable oil, lard, or shortening. Your preference.
Line up an assembly line:
A plate of flour, Then, milk & egg mixture. Then a plate of breadcrumbs, and cornmeal mixture.
When oil is heated, take tomato slices one at a time, dredge in flour first, milk & egg mixture second, and breadcrumb mixture third. Fry until golden, and drain on a paper towel. Allow cooling before eating.
Enjoy with the dipping sauce!! Delicious!!
NOTE: the dipping sauce is also excellent on a green salad or for other vegetables AND it’s great on Hot Wings!!! I love it because there is some spice in it!!
